ITB Syndrome - Case Profile

Profile
40-year old triathlete, while training for the Lake Placid Ironman, developed persistent pain at the side of his knee and sought treatment at 360 NMT.

Treatment
Lateral quadriceps and hamstrings were treated first to remove fascial adhesions with the ITB. Cross friction at the distal ITB attachment was followed by icing the region. Active-Isolated Stretching was recommended for the lower extremity to maintain length gains.

Result
Because this injury was caught early, the ITB pain was gone in two treatments. Inflammation at the side for the knee is a sign that overuse is occurring and is a common cycling injury. 360 NMT treats many repetitive sports injuries. Early intervention muscle treatment can prevent further disabling and damaging joint strain, as well as forced time away from sports, training and/or work.
